Keeping email addresses private with GroupSend

When you send an email to a GroupSend email address, we automatically hide your private email address by swapping it for one of our own. When someone you have emailed replies, our system swaps your address back and sends the email on to you.

What happens when you send an email to a GroupSend address

For example, if your are running a rowing club, and create an email group called “members” and send a message… here is what happens.

Let’s say you send the following email:

From: harry.windsor@thepalace.com

To: members.rowingclub@groupsend.com

Subject: This weeks competition

Dear [FIRST_NAME],

We’re chuffed that you are on our team this week, please find details of the competition below:

All the best,

Harry

Before we send it to everyone who has consented to be part of the “members” email group, we will change the “from” address to the one we created for you when you signed-up.

From: harry.windsor.rowingclub@groupsend.com

To: members.rowingclub@groupsend.com

Subject: This weeks competition

Dear [FIRST_NAME],

We’re chuffed that you are on our team this week, please find details of the competition below:

All the best,

Harry

What happens when someone replies

If one of the members, say Megan, replies we swap your private email back and replace Megan’s with her GroupSend email automatically. Below is what Harry will receive.

From: megan.rowingclub@groupsend.com

To: harry.windsor@thepalace.com

Subject: This weeks competition

Dear Harry,

All received, I’ll be there and thanks for organising everything for us.

Megan.

By using this method, every GroupSend members private email has a much higher chance of remaining private.
